A car starts from rest and its velocity reaches 24 m s⁻¹ in 6 s. Find the average acceleration and the distance travelled in these 6 s.

Show Answer Hide Answer

\(u = 0,\ v = 24\ \text{m s}^{-1},\ t = 6\ \text{s}\).

Acceleration \( a = \dfrac{v - u}{t} = \dfrac{24 - 0}{6} = 4\ \text{m s}^{-2} \).

Distance \( s = ut + \tfrac{1}{2}at^2 = 0 + \tfrac{1}{2}(4)(6^2) = 72\ \text{m} \).
