A Clean Environment for Good Health

  • A clean place keeps us healthy and feeling good.
  • Dirty, polluted places have flies and mosquitoes.
  • People in such places fall sick more often.
  • Clean air and water are important for our health.
Example 1 — Two Playgrounds
  • One playground is clean and well kept.
  • The other is dirty and full of mosquitoes.
  • So a clean playground keeps children healthier.
Example 2 — City Air
  • Smoke from vehicles and factories pollutes city air.
  • It can cause coughing or asthma.
  • So clean air helps us stay healthy.
Important Points
  • The Air Quality Index (AQI) tells us how clean the air is.
  • Health is not only about the body — feelings and friends matter too.
Definition — Air Quality Index (AQI)
The Air Quality Index is a number that tells us how clean or polluted the air around us is.
