Question 3 In the given picture, each black blob hides an equal number of blue dots. If there are 25 dots in total, how many dots are covered by one blob? Write an equation to describe this problem.Given that 3 black blobs cover blue dots. There are 25 dots total. Each blob hides the same number of dots. Now, Let Number of dots in 1 blob = x Since there are 25 dots, 3 black blobs and 4 additional dots We can write Total dots = Number of dots in 3 black blobs + 4 = 3 × Number of dots in 1 black blob + 4 Putting values 25 = 3 × x + 4 25 = 3x + 4 Putting 4 on left side, so it becomes subtraction 25 – 4 = 3x 21 = 3x Putting x term on left side 3x = 21 Putting 3 on right side, so it becomes division x = 21/3 x = 7 Thus, 7 dots are covered by one blob.
