Question 5 The following are some equations along with the steps used to solve them to find the value of the letter−number. Go through each solution and decide whether the steps are correct. If there is a mistake, describe the mistake, correct it and solve the equation. Is there a mistake? Yes What went wrong? This solution is very confusing! The student moved the -4w to the right side (becoming +4w), but then in the next step, they just dropped the "w" and treated it like the number 4. Correct solution Now, 15w – 4w = 26 11w = 26 Taking 11 on right side, it becomes division w = 𝟐𝟔/𝟏𝟏
