Question 6 Construct the following figure. How do we construct the petals so that they are of the maximum possible size within a given square?We follow these steps First, we make a square of side 6 cm Then, we construct semi-circles on all 4 sides where Diameter = Side of Square Steps of Construction 1. Draw a base line and mark point A. 2. Construct a 90° angle at A using the standard method. 3. Open compass 6 cm And, Draw arcs on horizontal and vertical lines. Where it intersects horizontal line is point B, where it intersects vertical line is point D 4. From points B and D, swing arcs of the same radius 6 cm to find corner C. 5. Connect B to C and D to C. ABCD is the required square 6. Mark the midpoints of the 4 sides. Since side of square is 6 cm, we mark mid-point at 3 cm from vertices 7. Taking Diameter as length of circle Thus, Radius = 3 cm Draw a semicircle from the bottom midpoint. 8. Draw a semicircle from the top, left and right midpoint The flower pattern is created
