Question 11 A dog is chasing a rabbit that has a head start of 150 feet. It jumps 9 feet every time the rabbit jumps 7 feet. In how many leaps does the dog catch up with the rabbit? Now, every time both of them jump Dog gains = 9 – 7 = 2 feet Since the Dog needs to close a gap of 150 feet Thus, Number of leaps needed =(𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑔𝑎𝑝)/(𝐺𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑝𝑒𝑟 𝑔𝑎𝑝) =150/2 = 75 Thus, the dog needs 75 leaps.
