Example 2 Find the common factors, and the HCF of 112 and 84.Let’s find Prime Factorisation of both 112 & 84 Now, 112 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 7 84 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 7 HCF of 112, 84 = 2 × 2 × 7 = 28 Now, we need to find Common Factors also Common Factors of 112 & 84 Since 112 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 7 84 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 7 The common factors are 2 7 2 × 2 = 4 2 × 7 = 14 And, 2 × 2 × 7 = 28 Thus, common factors are 2, 7, 4, 14 and 28
