(Hint: Decompose 104 and 37 into sums or differences of numbers whose squares are easy to compute.)For 〖𝟏𝟎𝟒〗^𝟐 It will be easier if we break it into 104 = 100 + 4 Now, 𝟏𝟎𝟒^𝟐=(𝟏𝟎𝟎+𝟒)^𝟐 =100^2+2 × 100 × 4+4^2 =10000+800+16 =𝟏𝟎𝟖𝟏𝟔 For 〖𝟑𝟕〗^𝟐 Let’s break it into 37 = 30 + 7 Now, 𝟑𝟕^𝟐=(𝟑𝟎+𝟕)^𝟐 =30^2+2 × 30 × 7+7^2 =900+420+49 =𝟏𝟑𝟔𝟗
