Construct ShadingsConstruct this. Choose measurements of your choice. Note that the larger 4-sided figure is a square and so are the smaller ones Now, this one is interesting Note that we have 4 small squares at top row, and 4 small squares in right most column Thus, we have to divide this into 4 × 4 grid of smaller squares The easiest way is to pick a side length for the large square that is a multiple of 4 (like 8 cm or 12 cm) Let’s assume Side of larger square = 8 cm Since 4 smaller squares are in one row Side of smaller square = 8/4 = 2 cm Let’s label and write its sides properly We can make shadings over the full square Or keep the bottom left part empty Bottom left square is of 4 cm × 4 cm Construction Steps (using an 8 × 8 square): Construct a large 8 cm x 8 cm square. Since you need a 4 × 4 grid, each small square will be 8/4= 2 cm Along the top and bottom sides, make marks every 2 cm (at 2 cm, 4 cm, and 6 cm). Draw the three vertical lines to connect these marks. Along the left and right sides, make marks every 2 cm (at 2 cm, 4 cm, and 6 cm). Draw the three horizontal lines. You now have a perfect 4 × 4 grid of 16 smaller squares. Following the pattern, draw a diagonal line in each of the required smaller squares. Shade the correct triangles.
