Question 3 Try to recreate the figure where the waves are smaller than a half circle (as appearing in the neck of the figure, ‘A Person’). The challenge here is to get both the waves to be identical. This may be tricky!Basically, we need to make a wave like this This is different from half circle waves we made earlier Now, to make smaller than half circle waves, we follow the same steps… but with a twist We put our centers a little below the circle and draw an arc from there And, radius of our arcs should be more – if we keep radius as 2 cm, we will get figure like this Let Radius of circle = 3 cm And, Length of straight line = 8 cm Now let’s construct our figure Steps of Construction First we draw line segment AB of length = 8 cm 1. Draw a line l mark point A on it 2. Since length is 8 cm, we measure 8 cm using ruler and compass 3. Now keeping compass opened the same length. We keep pointed end at point A, and draw an arc on line l So, the required line segment is (𝑨𝑩) ̅ = 8 cm To draw our wave, we pick radius longer than 2 cm Let Radius be 3 cm 4. We open our compass to 3 cm 5. Putting pencil end at point A, and pointy end below AB, we make an arc. 6. Keeping our compass open to 3 cm, we put pencil end at point B and draw an arc Thus, our required Wavy figure it formed Final figure looks like
