Question 2 - Figure it out (Page 265) Play the same game with the grids below. What answer did you get?Let’s do this one by one. Grid 1 Now, First we chose –14, as black circle Then, we chose –2, as blue circle Then, we chose 10, as red circle Then, we only had –2 left. So, we chose –2, as purple circle Thus, Sum of numbers circled = (–14) + (–2) + 10 + (–2) = –14 – 2 – 2 + 10 = – (14 + 2 + 2) + 10 = –18 + 10 = – (18 – 10) = –8 Grid 2 Now, First we chose 3, as black circle Then, we chose –7, as blue circle Then, we chose –10, as red circle Then, we only had 0 left. So, we chose 0, as purple circle Thus, Sum of numbers circled = 3 + (–7) + (–10) + 0 = 3 – (7 + 10) = 3 – 17 = –17 + 3 = – (17 – 3) = –14
