What is common among these places? Why does it become colder there and not in other places?Yes, there are many places in India where temperatures can go below 0 ∘ C, especially during the winter months. Places: Examples include Leh and other parts of Ladakh, Shimla, Manali, Srinagar, and high-altitude areas in states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. What is common among these places? The most common feature of these places is their high altitude; they are typically located in mountainous regions like the Himalayas. Why does it become colder there? It becomes colder at higher altitudes for a few reasons. The air is less dense, so it cannot hold heat as effectively as the air at sea level. These locations are also often closer to snow and glaciers, which keeps the surrounding temperature low.
