Question 2 (Page 169) What about the following groups? In which group will each child get more? 1 chikki divided between 2 children or 4 chikkis divided among 7 children.First group 1 chikki divided between 2 children Each child gets = (𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑘𝑘𝑖)/(𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛) = 𝟏/𝟐 Second group 4 chikki divided between 7 children Each child gets = (𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑘𝑘𝑖)/(𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛) = 𝟒/𝟕 Now, we need to compare 𝟏/𝟐 and 𝟒/𝟕 To compare, we make denominator same Here, we make denominator 2 × 7 = 14 Note: This is because we cannot make 2 into 7, but we can make 2 as 14 and 7 as 14 to make denominator same So, 𝟏/𝟐=𝟏/𝟐 ×𝟕/𝟕 =𝟕/𝟏𝟒 𝟒/𝟕=𝟒/𝟕 ×𝟐/𝟐 =𝟖/𝟏𝟒 Thus, we need to compare 𝟕/𝟏𝟒 and 𝟖/𝟏𝟒 Since denominator is same, we compare numerator 𝟕/𝟏𝟒 < 𝟖/𝟏𝟒 We can write 𝟏/𝟐 < 𝟒/𝟕 Thus, in 2nd group child gets more chikki
