Question 1 (Page 169) In which group will each child get more chikki? 1 chikki divided between 2 children or 5 chikkis divided among 8 children.First group 1 chikki divided between 2 children Each child gets = (𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑘𝑘𝑖)/(𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛) = 𝟏/𝟐 Second group 5 chikki divided between 8 children Each child gets = (𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑘𝑘𝑖)/(𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛) = 𝟓/𝟖 Now, we need to compare 𝟏/𝟐 and 𝟓/𝟖 To compare, we make denominator same So, 𝟏/𝟐=𝟏/𝟐 ×𝟒/𝟒 =𝟒/𝟖 Thus, we need to compare 𝟒/𝟖 and 𝟓/𝟖 Since denominator is same, we compare numerator 𝟒/𝟖 < 𝟓/𝟖 We can write 𝟏/𝟐 < 𝟓/𝟖 Thus, in 2nd group child gets more chikki
