Question (a) - Figure it out (Page 168) Find the missing numbers: (a) 5 glasses of juice shared equally among 4 friends is the same as ____ glasses of juice shared equally among 8 friends. So, 5/4= "⎕" /8. 5/4 = "⎕" /8 Cross multiplying 5 × 8 = "⎕" × 4 "⎕" × 4 = 5 × 8 "⎕" = (5 × 8)/4 "⎕" = 5 × 2 "⎕" = 10 Question (b) - Figure it out (Page 168) Find the missing numbers: (b) 4 kg of potatoes divided equally in 3 bags is the same as 12 kgs of potatoes divided equally in ___ bags. So, 4/3= 12/"⎕" . 4/3 = 12/"⎕" Cross multiplying 4 × "⎕" = 3 × 12 "⎕" = (3 × 12)/4 "⎕" = 3 × 3 "⎕" = 9 Question (c) - Figure it out (Page 168) Find the missing numbers: (c) 7 rotis divided among 5 children is the same as ____ rotis divided among _____ children. So, 7/5= "⎕" /"⎕" .Basically we need find equivalent fractions of 7/5 To find equivalent fractions, we just multiply the numerator and denominator by same number Multiplying & Dividing by 2 7/5=7/5 ×2/2 =𝟏𝟒/𝟏𝟎 So, "⎕" /"⎕" =𝟏𝟒/𝟏𝟎 Similarly, we can multiply by any other number to get more equivalent fractions
