Chapter 3 Class 10 Linear Equations In Two Variables - Assertion and Reasoning Worksheet 1 by teachoo Chapter: Chapter 3 Class 10 Maths – Linear Equations in Two Variables Name: _____________________________ School: _____________________________ Roll Number: _____________________________ Instructions: For each question, two statements are given: Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Choose the correct option. (a) Both A and R are true, and R is the correct explanation of A. (b) Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A. (c) A is true, but R is false. (d) A is false, but R is true. Assertion (A): The area of the trapezium formed by the lines 3x+4y-12=0 and 3x+4y=6 is 9/2 square units. Reason (R): The system of equations a_1 x+b_1 y+c_1=0 and a_2 x+b_2 y+c_2=0 is inconsistent, if a_1/a_2 =b_1/b_2 =c_1/c_2 . Assertion (A): If the pair of lines are coincident, then we say that pair of lines is consistent and it has a unique solution. Reason (R): If the pair of lines are parallel, then the pairs has no solution and is called inconsistent pair of equations. Assertion (A): The value of k for which the system of linear equations 3x-4y=7 and 6x-8y=k have infinite number of solution is 14. Reason (R): The graph of linear equations a1x+b1y+c1=0 and a2x+b2y+c2=0 gives a pair of intersecting lines if (a1 )/a2≠(b1 )/b2 . Assertion (A): x=3, y=1 is the solution of the line x=3y. Reason (R): The solution of the line will satisfy the equation of the line. Assertion (A): The linear equations x-2y-3=0 and 3x+5y-20=0 have exactly one solution. Reason (R): The linear equation 4x+3y-90=0 and 8x+6y-180=0 have a unique solution.
