Democracy is not successful in reducing economic inequalities because:

  1. Economic inequality is growing in democratic countries.
  2. Wealth and incomes are disproportionately shared between a small number of ultra-rich individuals.
  3. The share of their income in the total national income keeps increasing.
  4. Poor people's income has declined and sometimes they struggle to meet their basic needs in life.
  5. Nevertheless, democratization slowly reduces poverty and hunger.
