Major factors responsible for unemployment in India is

  1. Rapid Growth of Population : Our population has been continuously increasing rapidly, but due to slow economic growth employment opportunities have not risen at the same pace.
  2. Over-Dependence on Agriculture : Even after 75 years of independence , more than 50% of our population still depends upon the primary sector for their livelihood .
  3. Underdevelopment of Cottage and Small-Scale Industry : Rural India is facing problems like disguised and seasonal unemployment . This is mainly due to the underdevelopment of the cottage and the small-scale industry.
  4. Underdevelopment of Industries : A lack of capital and other essential inputs causes the industrialization process to be very slow . As a result, the industrial sector has not provided enough job opportunities for the unemployed .
  5. Slow Pace of Infrastructure Growth : One of the major reasons for the Indian economy's slow growth is the slow pace of infrastructure development.
