Ex 8.2, 1 Find the sum : (vii) −21/3 + 4 3/5 −21/3 + 4 3/5 = − (2+ 1/3) + (4+ 3/5) = − ((2 × 3 + 1)/3) + ((4 × 5 + 3)/5) = − ((6 + 1)/3) + ((20 + 3)/5) = (−7)/3 + 23/5 = (− 𝟕 × 𝟓 + 𝟐𝟑 × 𝟑)/(𝟑 × 𝟓) = (− 35 + 69)/(15 ) = (69 − 35)/(15 ) = 𝟑𝟒/𝟏𝟓
