Question In a class activity, Sheena does a block painting on a square handkerchief as shown in figure. She made nine designer circles each of radius 7 cm Question 1 What is the area of the nine circles? (A) 154 cm2 (B) 145 cm2 (C) 1386 cm2 (C) 1836 cm2 Given Radius of circle = 7 cm Thus, Circular Design is a circle with radius 7 cm Area of 9 circles = 9 × Area of circle with radius 7 cm = 9 × 𝜋(7)2 = 9 × 22/7 × 7 × 7 = 9 × 22 × 7 = 9 × 154 = 1386 cm2 So, the correct answer is (C) Question 2 What is the side of the square? (A) 22 cm (B) 44 cm (C) 24 cm (C) 42 cm Here, Side of square = 3 × Diameter of circle = 3 × 2 × Radius of circle = 6 × Radius = 6 × 7 = 42 cm So, the correct answer is (C) Question 3 What is the area of square? (A) 1764 cm2 (B) 1674 cm2 (C) 1476 cm2 (C) 1746 cm2Now, Area of square = (Side)2 = (42)2 = 1764 cm2 So, the correct answer is (a) Question 4 What is the area of remaining portion of square? (A) 837 cm2 (B) 378 cm2 (C) 738 cm2 (C) 383 cm2Area of remaining portion = Area of square – Area of 9 circles = Area of square – 9 × Area of 1 circle = 1764 − 9 × 154 = 1764 − 1386 = 378 cm2 So, the correct answer is (b) Question 5 The given problem is based on which mathematical concept? (a) Areas Related to circles (b) Circles (c) Construction (d) none of these The given problem is based on Area related to circles So, the correct answer is (a)
