Which postulate of Dalton’s atomic theory can explain the law of definite proportions?

Dalton’s postulate 

“The relative number and kinds of atoms are constant in a given compound ”

Tells us that the number and type of atoms in a compound are always constant .

This postulate is a result of the law of constant proportion .
