Suppose your writing desk is tilted a little. A book kept on it starts sliding down. Show the direction of frictional force acting on it.

The direction of friction force will always be opposite to the direction of motion.

Here, book will slide down in the downward direction due to gravity,

and frictional force will be in the opposite direction - i.e. upward
