Example 1 If 4x + i(3x โ y) = 3 + i (โ6), where x and y are real numbers, then find the values of x and y. Given 4๐ฅ + ๐ (3๐ฅ โ ๐ฆ) = 3 + ๐ (โ6) Comparing Real Part 4๐ฅ = 3 ๐ = ๐/๐ Comparing Imaginary Part 3๐ฅ โ ๐ฆ = โ6 Putting ๐ = ๐/๐ 3(๐/๐) โ ๐ฆ = โ6 9/4โ๐ฆ=โ6 9/4+6=๐ฆ ๐=๐๐/๐ Hence, ๐ = ๐/๐ & ๐ = ๐๐/๐ is the solution of the given equation
