Subject: Students for Adult Literacy Camps
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw attention to the role students can play in adult literacy. Many adults, especially women, still cannot read or write and therefore remain dependent in daily life.
Students can volunteer in literacy camps and help adults learn basic reading, writing and digital skills. Such work benefits society and also makes students patient, empathetic and socially responsible.
Schools should encourage volunteering, give certificates for participation and organise “each one, teach one” drives. I hope this letter is published so that more students come forward for this noble cause.
Yours truly,
Aditi Rao
