Question 1 - Page 125 Look at the three coloured strips carefully. (i) What activity does each colour stand for? Now, Light Blue: Takes up the whole night (midnight to 7:00 AM) and late evening. This is clearly Sleeping. Dark Purple: Happens right after waking up. This is Showering/getting dressed/yoga. Yellow: Appears in short bursts around 8:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 8:30 PM. These are standard meal times, so this is Eating. Green: Often borders his main daily activities. This represents Travelling. Grey: Takes up a massive chunk of the middle of the day on Strip 1. This is Classes, studying, and homework. Orange: Dominates the afternoons/evenings on Strip 2 and 3. This is Meeting friends, hobbies, media. Question 1 - Page 125 Look at the three coloured strips carefully. (ii) The three strips correspond to the days Friday – Sunday in some order. Which day do you think each strip represents? Now, Strip 1 is packed with Grey (Classes/Studying). This must be a weekday: Friday. Strip 3 shows him sleeping in much later (the light blue goes down to hour 9) and having lots of free time. This relaxing day is likely Sunday. Strip 2 shows him waking up at his normal weekday time but having zero classes (no grey), leaving this as Saturday. Question 1 - Page 125 (iii) On one of these days, he went out with friends to watch a long movie. When do you think this happened? Look at Strip 2 (Saturday). At hour 13 (1:00 PM), there is a green box (travel), followed by a massive 3.5-hour block of orange (media/friends), followed by another green box (travel back home). The movie happened on Saturday afternoon, from roughly 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Question 1 - Page 125 Look at the three coloured strips carefully. (iv) At what time does his school break for lunch?Look at his Friday school day (Strip 1). The solid block of grey classes is interrupted by one yellow box (eating) inside the "14" hour block. Since it is the first box of that hour, his lunch break is from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM Question 1 - Page 125 Look at the three coloured strips carefully. (v) What more can the strips tell us? They reveal a lot about his habits! We can see he consistently eats three meals a day, he goes to sleep around 10:30 PM on weekdays, and he spends about an hour commuting (green boxes) on a school day.
