Temperature Line GraphWe are given this Line Graph How do we understand what’s given? To read it we follow the "2-Step Process" The "2-Step Process" to Understanding Graphs Step 1: Identify what is given Look at the axes and the scale. Horizontal Line (x-axis): It shows Months (Usually in a Line Graph, x-axis shows time (like days, months, or years) Vertical Line (y-axis): Temperature (in Celcius) Legend: Blue = Kerala, Red = Punjab Data Points: Points which show what’s the Temperature on a given Month The Line: The line that connects the dots so we can easily see the "trend." Step 2: Infer from what is given "Infer" means to act like a detective and find the story behind the numbers. In Punjab, the monthly maximum temperature increases from January to June, reaching a high of 38°C. Then, it reduces to just under 35° C in July, stays mostly flat till September, and then falls continuously till December, reaching about 23° C. January has the lowest among the monthly maximum temperature of about 19° C. Kerala’s trend is different — it stays mostly flat throughout the year. The peak is around 33° C in April and the lowest point is around 29° C in July. Notice that the monthly maximum temperatures in Kerala are similar both in summer and winter! In short, the temperature in Punjab varies more, reaching colder and warmer temperatures than in Kerala.
