Question 1 - Page 86 Find the shortest path between the ant and the laddu in the following case:To find the shortest distance, We convert the cuboid into a net Mark a straight line between ant and the laddu That is our shortest distance Let’s do it Since the straight line is outside the net It means that this is not the path In that case, we unfold our net in a different way Let’s try that Unfolding net in a different way Here, it is a straight line And it is the Hypotenuse of a right triangle with sides 4 + 2 = 6 cm And, 2 cm Thus, by Pythagoras Theorem (Shortest Distance)2 = 62 + 22 (Shortest Distance)2 = 36 + 4 (Shortest Distance)2 = 40 Shortest Distance = √𝟒𝟎 cm
