Net of a CylinderIf the circular faces of a cylinder are unfolded, and if a cut is made along the height of the cylinder, as shown in the figure below, then we get If you cut the label off a soup can and unroll it, it forms a rectangle. One side of the rectangle is simply the height of the cylinder. The other side of the rectangle has to wrap exactly around the circle base. Therefore, the length of that side is the circumference of the circle (which is calculated as 2𝝅r). And, its animation looks like
