Question 4 The weight of a brick is 1 kg more than half its weight. What is the weight of the brick?Let Weight of brick = W kg Given that weight of a brick is 1 kg more than half its weight So, we can write Weight = 1 + (𝑾𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 )/𝟐 Putting values W = 1 + 𝑾/𝟐 Putting 𝑊/2 left side, so it becomes negative W –𝑊/2 = 1 W × (1 – 1/2) = 1 W × (2 − 1)/2 = 1 W × 𝟏/𝟐 = 1 Putting 1/2 on right side, so it becomes reciprocal W = 1 × 2/1 W = 1 × 2 W = 2 Thus, weight of the brick is 2 kg
