Question 4 The weight of a brick is 1 kg more than half its weight. What is the weight of the brick?Let Weight of brick = W kg Given that weight of a brick is 1 kg more than half its weight So, we can write Weight = 1 + (π‘Ύπ’†π’Šπ’ˆπ’‰π’• )/𝟐 Putting values W = 1 + 𝑾/𝟐 Putting π‘Š/2 left side, so it becomes negative W β€“π‘Š/2 = 1 W Γ— (1 – 1/2) = 1 W Γ— (2 βˆ’ 1)/2 = 1 W Γ— 𝟏/𝟐 = 1 Putting 1/2 on right side, so it becomes reciprocal W = 1 Γ— 2/1 W = 1 Γ— 2 W = 2 Thus, weight of the brick is 2 kg
