If yes, which step in the sequence will it be?We notice a pattern in the steps here Thus, our expression is 3k + 1 Where k = Step in the sequence Now, our question is Can Ranjana extend the sequence and make an arrangement using 100 tiles? If yes, which step in the sequence will it be? We put value of expression as 100, and find value of k Solving 3k + 1 = 100 Putting 1 on right side 3k = 100 – 1 3k = 99 k = 99/3 k = 33 Since k = 33 is the solution, we can say that Yes, she can make an arrangement with 100 tiles! Since k is a whole number (33), this will be exactly Step 33 of the sequence.
