Statistical Statement What is a Statistical Statement? A statistical statement is a sentence that summarizes the data you collected. It tells a "story" about the numbers. It usually uses words like average, most, range, or percentage. Imagine you asked your class: "How many pets do you have?" (This is the statistical question). You collected the answers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 5, 0, 1, 3. Here are some statistical statements you could make based on that data: "Most students in the class have 1 pet." "The number of pets ranges from 0 to 5." "The average number of pets is about 1.5." Summary Ask: You start with a Statistical Question (e.g., "How many minutes do students study?"). Collect: You get data with variety (e.g., 10 mins, 30 mins, 15 mins...). Tell: You make a Statistical Statement (e.g., "Most students study for at least 15 minutes.").
