SSS Congruency (Measuring the Sidelengths)Using a measuring tape, the girls measure the sides of the triangle to be 40 cm, 60 cm, and 80 cm. Can we replicate the triangle? Let’s try to do it ourselves. We try to make a triangle of sides 4 cm, 6 cm and 8 cm so that it fits in our notebook. Let’s construct it using compass and scale Constructing Triangle with Sides 4 cm, 6 cm, 8 cm We follow the same method we used in Chapter 7 Class 7 – A tale of 3 intersecting lines (Ganita Prakash Book 1) Thus, we form two triangles if we know all 3 sides ∆ ABC and ∆ ABD And, we observe that both these triangles are congruent Therefore, we write ∆ ABC ≅ ∆ ABD So, we can conclude If two triangles have the same sidelengths, then they are congruent. We call this the SSS (Side Side Side) condition for congruence.
