Geometric TwinsWe want to recreate this symbol on the signboard How will we do it? We can trace the symbol on a tracing paper. But, it will be difficult to re-create it for big symbols. We can also take measurements of the symbol Like we name the end points A, B & C Say our measurements are AB = 4 cm, BC = 8 cm Can we re-create the figure? Let’s try Here, the figures our still different But, if we can get ∠ ABC as well, then we can exactly replicate the figure So, if our measurements are AB = 4 cm, BC = 8 cm, and ∠ABC = 80° ; then we can replicate the figure These figures which are are exact copies of each other or have the same shape and size are said to be congruent. Let’s look at it’s definition and some examples
