Question 10 (Page 139) If you have to measure the temperature 22.5 °C, which of the following three thermometers will you use (Fig. 7.9)? Explain.Let’s Understand the three thermometers Thermometer (a)Between 0°C and 10°C, there are 10 divisions. So each division measures: (10^∘ 𝐶−0^∘ 𝐶)/10=(10^∘ 𝐶)/10=1^∘ 𝐶 Each division measures 1°C. So, It cannot measure 22.5°C . Thermometer (b)Between 0°C and 10°C, there are 20 divisions. So each division measures: (10^∘ 𝐶−0^∘ 𝐶)/20=(10^∘ 𝐶)/20=〖0.5〗^∘ 𝐶 Each division measures 0.5°C. So, It can measure 22.5°C . Thermometer (c)Between 0°C and 10°C, there are 5 divisions. So each division measures: (10^∘ 𝐶−0^∘ 𝐶)/5=(10^∘ 𝐶)/5=2^∘ 𝐶 Each division measures 2°C. So, It cannot measure 22.5°C . Final Answer If you have to measure the temperature 22.5 °C, which of the following three thermometers will you use (Fig. 7.9)? Explain. So, the answer is (b) because it has more divisions
