Question 9 (Page 58) Sugar is an example of carbohydrates. Sugar is tested with iodine solution but it does not change to blue - black colour . What can be a possible reason ? Types of Carbohydrates (Monosaccharides) Table Sugar (Disaccharides) Starch (Polysaccharides) If we put Iodine solution , No Change If we put Iodine solution , No Change If we put Iodine solution , It will turn Blue - Black So, sugar doesn’t contain Starch That’s why when it is tested with iodine solution, it does not change its colour to blue - black colour
