Question 8 Identify the greater number in each of the following— (i) 43 or 3443 = 4 × 4 × 4 = 16 × 4 = 64 34 = 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 9 × 9 = 81 Since, 64 < 81 ∴ 43 < 34 Hence, 34 is greater Question 8 Identify the greater number in each of the following— (ii) 28 or 8282 = 8 × 8 = 64 28 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 4 × 4 × 4 × 4 = 16 × 16 = 256 Since 64 < 256 ∴ 82 < 28 Hence, 28 is greater Question 8 Identify the greater number in each of the following— (iii) 1002 or 21001002 = 100 × 100 = 10,000 2100 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × …….. × 2 = 16384 × 2 × ……… 2 Since 10,000 < 16,384 × 2 × ……. × 2 ∴ 1002 < 2100 Hence, 2100 is greater
