Question 1 - Page 135 Write the perimeters of the figures below in terms of straight and diagonal units. We will assume Straight units is s Diagonal units is d Now, let’s find perimeters of these letters Perimeter of purple figure "F” Straight lines (s): Counting the straight lines at the bottom and on the sides, we find 8 straight lines. Diagonal lines (d): Counting the slanted lines that make the shape, we find 2 diagonal lines. ∴ Perimeter is 8s + 2d units. Perimeter of green figure ”W" Straight lines (s): Counting the straight lines at the bottom and on the sides, we find 12 straight lines. Diagonal lines (d): Counting the slanted lines that make the shape, we find 6 diagonal lines. ∴ Perimeter is 12s + 6d units. Perimeter of brown figure "N” Straight lines (s): Counting the straight lines at the bottom and on the sides, we find 18 straight lines. Diagonal lines (d): Counting the slanted lines that make the shape, we find 6 diagonal lines. ∴ Perimeter is 18s + 6d units.
