Estimating AreaHow can we find area of shapes like this? To find area like this, we consider a squared paper In this squared paper, each box is a square of 1 unit So, Area of one box is 1 square unit Area of one box = 1 × 1 = 1 square unit Now, tracing our figures in the squared paper Area is found by counting the number of squares We follow these Rules for Counting Squares If area is less than half square, ignore it (take it 0) If area is more than half square, take it 1 square unit If area is exactly half square, take 1/2 square unit Let’s do it one by one For (a) So, Area = 8 + 2 + 8 + 0 = 18 square units Let’s try part (b) now For (b) So, Area = 4 + 2 + 9 + 0 = 15 square units Let’s do a question
