Quantitative DataAny collection of facts, numbers, measures, observations or other descriptions of things that convey information about those things is called data. Qualitative Data ”Football is my favourite game” ”My dog has white hair” Discrete Continuous Qualitative vs Quantitative Data can be qualitative or quantitative. Qualitative data is descriptive information (it describes something) Quantitative data is numerical information (numbers) Qualitative data could be Your favourite sport Names of all students in your class Description of the day (sunny, cloudy, rainy) Quantitative data could be Number of players in a team Number of students in your class Temperature at noon Let’s do an example What data can we find out from Kaiju-the dog? Qualitative: He is white He has short hair He has lots of energy Quantitative: Discrete: He has 4 legs He has 1 sister Continuous: He weighs 25.5 kg He is 565 mm tall
