Class 6
Chapter 1 Class 6 - Patterns in Mathematics (Ganit Prakash)

Patterns in numbers πŸ”’ happen when numbers follow a certain rule or sequence.

Just like music 🎡 follows a beat, numbers can follow a pattern too!

🌟 1. Increasing Patterns

Each number gets bigger by the same amount.

  • βž• Add 2 each time: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10...
  • βž• Add 5 each time: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25...

🌟 2. Decreasing Patterns

Each number gets smaller by the same amount.

  • βž– Subtract 1 each time: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6...
  • βž– Subtract 3 each time: 30, 27, 24, 21...

🌟 3. Skip Counting

This is a fun pattern where we jump numbers!

  • ⏩ Skip by 2s: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10...
  • ⏩ Skip by 10s: 10, 20, 30, 40...

🌟 4. Multiplying Patterns

Each number is multiplied by a rule.

  • βœ–οΈ Multiply by 2: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32...
  • βœ–οΈ Multiply by 3: 1, 3, 9, 27, 81...

🌟 5. Doubling Patterns

Each number is double the one before.

1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32... ➑️ This is also called a growing pattern .

🌟 6. Odd and Even Patterns

  • 🟦 Even Numbers: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10...
  • πŸŸ₯ Odd Numbers: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11...

🌟 7. Patterns in Place Value

Look at how the digits move when we multiply by 10:

1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000... ➑️ One more zero each time!

🎯 Why are Number Patterns Important?

  • βœ… Help us predict what comes next
  • βœ… Make math faster and easier
  • βœ… Teach us how rules and logic work

Math is full of secret codes – and patterns help us crack them! πŸ•΅οΈ‍♀οΈπŸ”Ž
