Patterns are things that repeat or follow a rule.
In math, a pattern is when something happens again and again, in the same way. Like:
- π₯π©π₯π©π₯π© → red, green, red, green...
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 → goes up by 1 each time
- 2, 4, 6, 8 → skip counting by 2
We use patterns to:
- Predict what comes next π
- Spot mistakes β
- Solve puzzles π§©
π’ Types of Patterns
-
Repeating Patterns
: Shapes or numbers that repeat in the same order.
Example: π·πΆπ·πΆπ·... -
Growing Patterns
: Each step gets bigger or smaller.
Example: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16... -
Number Patterns
: Numbers that follow a rule.
Example: 5, 10, 15, 20 (add 5 each time)

Patterns help us make sense of what comes next in shapes, numbers, and ideas!
