Answer to be written in the exam:

  1. According to the Constitution, only Indian citizens who are at least 25 years old are eligible to serve as Lok Sabha members. In a similar vein, Rajya Sabha members must be citizens of India and be at least 30 years old.

  2. In accordance with Article 84 of the Constitution, the Parliament may impose additional requirements.

  3. But a citizen is disqualified to become a member of  the Parliament:
    1. If he/she holds an office of profit under the union of a state government. 

    2.  If he/she is declared to be of unsound mind by a court. 

    3.  If he/she is bankrupt.

    4.  If he/she has lost his/her Indian citizenship through voluntary renunciation or through any other means. 

    5.  If he/she has any criminal records.
