  • The right to vote is a fundamental political right that allows citizens to participate in the democratic process and elect their representatives.
  • However, not all citizens have the right to vote in most countries. Some categories that are denied the right to vote are:
    • Minors : People who are below a certain age limit, usually 18 or 21 years, are not allowed to vote. This is because they are considered immature and uninformed about political issues.
    • Convicts : People who are convicted of serious crimes, such as murder, rape, treason, etc., are not allowed to vote. This is because they are considered unfit and unworthy of participating in the political system.
    • Non-citizens : People who are not citizens of a country, such as immigrants, refugees, tourists, etc., are not allowed to vote. This is because they do not have a stake or a loyalty in the country’s affairs.
    • Mentally incapacitated : People who are mentally ill or disabled, such as those suffering from dementia, schizophrenia, etc., are not allowed to vote. This is because they are considered incapable and irrational of making political decisions
