This chapter examines India’s historical connections with other regions through trade, travel, ideas, religion, knowledge and cultural exchange.

Students learn that ancient and early-medieval India was part of wider networks linking Asia, Africa and Europe. Routes across land and sea carried not only goods but also technologies, beliefs and artistic traditions.

Chapter 5 – Authority

Students study the meaning and sources of authority.
