Answer:

The total number of chromosomes present in both human females and males are 46 .

In human males, the 2 sex chromosomes found are X or Y , whereas in human females, both the sex chromosomes are X.

During sexual reproduction, the male gamete fuses with the female gamete and forms a zygote. A zygote is diploid ie., it contains 23 chromosomes from the mother and 23 chromosomes from the father . In this way, an equal genetic contribution of male and female parents is ensured in the Progeny.
