Question 5 A taxi driver filled his car petrol tank with 40 litres of petrol on Monday. The next day, he filled the tank with 50 litres of petrol. If the petrol costs Rs 44 per litre, how much did he spend in all on petrol? Cost of 1 liter Petrol = 44 Cost of 40 Liter petrol on Monday = 44 × 40 Cost of 50 liter Petrol on Tuesday = 44 × 50 Total Cost of Petrol = 44 × 40 + 44 × 50 = 44 × (40 + 50) = 44 × 90 = 44 × 9 × 10 = 396 × 10 = 3960
