The poet speaks of several occupations in the poem. Create groups of five. Allot the role of any five vocations that the poet talks about. Each student in the group will represent one vocation.

Each student speaks for 1–2 minutes about their vocation—who they are, what they do, where they work, what kind of experiences they have at work, what problems they face and a message for all.

Sample speech:
“Good morning, friends! Who am I? I am an electrician. What do I do? I work with cables, wires, switches and meters so that your homes, schools and shops always have light. Where do I work? Everywhere — on poles in the street, inside new buildings, and in your homes when a fuse goes off. My experiences: the best moment of my day is when I flip the switch and a dark house lights up — the children cheer, and I hum a tune as I pack my tools. My problems: my work can be dangerous; one careless touch of a live wire can cost a life, and I often work in the heat or rain. People remember me only when the power goes out! My message for all: respect every worker you meet, because every safe, bright, comfortable day of yours is built by someone’s hands. Thank you!”
Why: The speech covers all six points asked: who, what, where, experiences, problems and a message.
