II. Work in pairs. Discuss what the words ‘जय हे’ (Jaya he) in the last two lines of the National Anthem convey. Share your answer with your classmates and teacher.

Sample answer: ‘Jaya he’ means “Victory to you” or “Hail”. It is a joyful cry of victory and blessing to the motherland , expressing deep pride and respect, and the wish that India should always be glorious.
Why: Like “let’s praise her!” in this poem, “Jaya he” is a call to honour the motherland.
III. Read the underlined word in each line of the poem. Choose the odd one out that does not correspond with the meaning of the underlined word.
