For a solar eclipse the order is Sun, Moon, Earth; for lunar it is Sun, Earth, Moon.

Correct Order

  • Solar eclipse: Sun — Moon — Earth (Moon in the middle).
  • The Moon blocks the Sun's light from the Earth.
  • Lunar eclipse: Sun — Earth — Moon (Earth in the middle).
  • The Earth blocks the Sun's light from the Moon.
In a solar eclipse the Moon is in the middle; in a lunar, the Earth is.
