Question 1 - Page 49 Can this process (for finding HCF) be simplified? Can it be made more reliable? We notice that finding factors for big numbers like 108 is kind of long and boring What if the number was 10,500? Listing factors would take forever and it's easy to miss one. The Solution: The book is introducing a "Secret Weapon" called Prime Factorisation. Instead of guessing lists of factors, we break numbers down into their basic building blocks (prime numbers) to find the HCF much faster.
